The National Fisherfolk Director, Mr. Avelino V. Capuli, visited the BFAR – National Inland Fisheries Technology Center on May 6, 2025, where he was warmly welcomed by the center’s officials and staff, and although the visit was brief, it was filled with meaningful discussions and purposeful engagements that aimed to strengthen collaboration between the government and the fisherfolk communities.

As Mr. Capuli toured the facilities and observed ongoing programs, he commended the center’s commitment to sustainable fisheries and aquaculture development, while also emphasizing the importance of empowering local fisherfolk through innovation, policy support, and capacity-building initiatives.

Moreover, the visit served not only as a platform to present the center’s accomplishments and current projects aligned with the Bureau’s mandate to digitize and modernize operations, but also as an avenue for raising key concerns from the grassroots level, ensuring that the voices of fisherfolk are heard and reflected in national strategies.
