In line with the celebration of the 62nd Fish Conservation Week 2025, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources–National Inland Fisheries Technology Center (BFAR-NIFTC) conducted the monitoring of the coastal clean-up activity with the theme: “Baybay ng Laguna de Bay, Linisin natin, Kalat ay Alisin.”
This activity, held on September 17, 2025, was participated in by selected fisherfolks from two (2) municipalities in Rizal where major fishports are located—the Cardona Fishport in Brgy. Looc, Cardona, Rizal, and the Binangonan Municipal Fishport in Brgy. Libis, Binangonan, Rizal.
The “Baybay ng Laguna de Bay, Linisin natin, Kalat ay Alisin” is a community-led coastal and waterfront clean-up activity aimed at preserving the health and beauty of Laguna de Bay’s shoreline. Participants collaboratively conducted shoreline and waterway cleaning activities specifically to remove plastic waste, debris, and other pollutants—promoting a cleaner environment, supporting sustainable fishing practices, and raising awareness on the importance of environmental management among local communities.
This initiative underscores BFAR-NIFTC’s commitment to environmental stewardship and the sustainable use of inland waters. 🌊♻️
