A public consultation was held on August 18, 2023, targeting fisherfolk along Laguna de Bay’s coastline. The purpose was to address the issue of Knifefish proliferation, a significant constraint affecting native and cultured fish production in the area. The consultation aimed to inform fisherfolk about the harmful effects of Knifefish and invasive species in the lake, seeking their input on measures to decrease their population. Presentations included a 10-year Knifefish containment plan and a draft Joint Administrative Order. The event also showcased achievements from the Balik Sigla sa Ilog at Lawa (BASIL) Program and allowed fisherfolk to ask questions to government representatives.
